Description

Premiere Winds is an introductory band for winds, brass, and percussion students who have learned basic technique on their instrument. Students learn how to play as an ensemble and continue to focus on basic technique and reading music. Rehearsals are split between instrument-specific group lessons and band rehearsals.

 

Schedule: Saturdays, 9:00-11:15am. 

  • Orchestra rehearsal 9:00am-10:00am
  • Instrument-specific sectional classes 10:15am-11:15am

Optional Enrichment Classes

 

Music Theory 

This is an additional class that will review concepts including note-reading, rhythms, and much more! Music theory will meet after rehearsal/sectionals from 11:30am-12:15pm. Music Theory tuition is free (available during registration).


Chamber Music 

Small groups (2-8 musicians each) that provide learning and performance opportunities outside of students' primary ensembles. Chamber groups will meet from about 12:00pm-1:00pm every week, so students must be available during that timeframe to join. Consistent attendance is essential for DCYOP's Chamber Music program! Chamber Music tuition is $100 (paid during registration).
